Cassiterite Crystal on Muscovite from Mt. Xueboading
Dimension: 8cm x 5.5cm x 5cm
Locality: Mt. Xuebaoding, Pingwu Co., Mianyang Prefecture, Sichuan Province, China
A specimen of lustrous crystal of Cassiterite measures 3.9cm x 3.3cm. The crystal has highly detailed prism faces and are intergrown to aesthetically perch on a matrix of intricate pearlsheen silvery Muscovite Mica. A few Cassiterite crystals also grown on the underside of the piece, rare and magnificent!
Little has come from this mine since the May 2008 earthquake which severely affected operations and Mount Xueboarding had been closed for mining many years ago due to the expansion of a nearby panda preserve.
This fine specimen is an excellent display piece and in superb condition.
