An attractive specimen of Hematite Included Quartz associated with Dolomite from Dongxiang Co., Jiangxi, China. The vivid rose red colored Hematite generously tinted the lustrous Quartz crystals in places. It exhibits a unique pearly lustre and grown to form in a rare botryoidal aggregates, outstanding!
The prevalence of Hematite in red color is due to oxidized iron in general. Hematite had been used as red pigment for paintings at Gramalote, an early Initial Period (1500–1200 cal. B.C.) maritime community in the north coast of Peru.
