Spessartine Garnets on Smoky Quartz from Wushan Mine, China
Dimension: 3.6cm x 1.9cm x 1.6cm
Weight: 15g / 75 carat
Locality: Wushan Mine, Tongbei, Yunxiao Co., Zhangzhou Prefecture, Fujian Province, China
A beautiful specimen of gem quality Spessartine Garnets on Smoky Quartz from the famous Wushan Mine of China. The sparkly Garnets sprinkled on the Smoky Quartz in places, in an eye-catching reddish-orange to cinnamon-orange color. The Smoky Quartz is exceedingly lustrous and is perfectly terminated.
The first specimens of Chinese garnet associated with smoky quartz and feldspar start appearing in the market in 1998. After many years of plentiful specimens, this locality has pretty much been depleted and had been shut down by the Chinese government many years ago. Spessartine Garnet Specimens from the Wushan Mine are now one of the most sort after pieces in the world and the price has already increased in multiples at the source. I can no longer acquire new pieces and these are those that I'd acquired in 2006, until stock last.
