A large, colorful Selenite var. Gypsum specimen (also called "Desert Rose") from Morocco. It is a beautiful and impressive display piece with exceptionally large roses and petals.
A Selenite (a variety of Gypsum) Desert Rose is a rosette-shaped aggregate made up of numerous Selenite blades (the “petals”) with sand inclusions that form during the seasonal evaporation of water over thousands of years. It can form into a singular rose or as a large cluster of numerous intergrown aggregates of roses or petals (the blades), as is the case with this specimen.
