A beautiful combination of precious Red Spessartine Garnet Crystals and Smoky Quartz on Orthoclase Feldspar Matrix. This piece really has it all! Out of literally thousands of these specimens, this has to be one of the most impressive piece in the lot. The specimen is comprised of an amazingly characteristic snowball-shaped aggregate of white blocky Orthoclase Feldspar crystals with a smattering of rich red, lustrous and gemmy Spessartine crystals accented by Smoky Quartz crystals bursting forth from the top of the specimen.
All in all, you would be hard pressed to find this specimen's equal from the standpoint of sheer artistic beauty and superior quality. It is ostensibly one of the most showy and eye-catching specimens from China or virtually any other locality.
The first specimens of Chinese garnet associated with smoky quartz and feldspar appeared on the market in 1998. After many years of plentiful specimens, this locality has pretty much been depleted and had been shut down by the Chinese government many years ago. Spessartine garnet specimens from this locality are now very sort after in the market.
