A rare and exquisite specimen of Red Hematite Included Quartz associated with Dolomite, Baryte, Bornite and Chalcopyrite from the famous Daye Copper Mine. The Hematite in vivid rose red color aesthetically coated the Quartz crystal points with white Dolomite artfully "crowning" the Quartz creating "snow" effect, outstanding! A spherical, very crystalized Baryte perched aesthetically onto the Dolomite with crystals of Bornite in metallic iridescent blue and green color in places. Baryte of this spherical crystal habit is amongst the rarest in the world and definitely one-of-a-kind. The prevalence of Hematite in red color is due to oxidized iron in general. Hematite had been used as red pigment for paintings at Gramalote, an early Initial Period (1500–1200 cal. B.C.) maritime community in the north coast of Peru.
