A beautiful specimen of Hematite Included Quartz associated with sprays of lustrous Calcite, Dolomite, Galena and Chalcopyrite from Dongxiang Co., Jiangxi, China.  The rose-red Hematite inclusions generously coated most part of the transparent Quartz crystals, in an attractive and good contrast with the creamy yellow Dolomite.  So stunning and unique!
 
The prevalence of Hematite in red color is due to oxidized iron in general.  Hematite had been used as red pigment for paintings at Gramalote, an early Initial Period (1500–1200 cal. B.C.) maritime community in the north coast of Peru.
