Phantom Fluorite, Quartz, Epidote, Wolframite, Calcite Crystal Cluster, Yaogan
Dimension: 5.3cm x 4.7cm x 3.8cm
Locality: Yaogangxian Mine, Yaogangxian W-Sn ore field, Yizhang Co., Chenzhou, Hunan, China
A beautiful small cabinet-sized specimen from the famous Yaogangxian Mine in China, showcasing 5 minerals in one piece: Fluorite, Quartz, Epidote, Wolframite, and Calcite. This belongs to my father's personal Chinese minerals collection of miniatures and small cabinet pieces that was purchased in around 2004-05. It features a significant Bluish-Purple Fluorite with intergrown Calcite and Epidote (the phantoms). The Fluorite Cubes are highly lustrous, have sharp corners and deep purple color edges. This level of Fluorite is hardly seen and almost impossible to obtain even at the source now as mining activities are restricted in the Yaogangxian area. Fine specimens from this locale are now very sort after by the collectors in the world.
Fluorite's Maintenance Advice:
Fluorite is extremely susceptible to sunlight, some colours fade slower than others, but they all fade under sunlight. The effect also happens under normal halogen light. Therefore keep Fluorite in a darker part of the home, away from direct sunlight unless it needs to be cleansed and charged. To cleanse and charge Fluorite, just pop it on a windowsill out of direct sunlight or even on a cloudy day for 10 minutes. If it doesn't feel like that is enough, you can use reiki or sound too.
