Purple Phantom Fluorite and Quartz from Shangbao Mine
Dimension: 3.2cm x 3cm x 2.5cm
Weight: 22g
Locality: Shangbao Mine, Leiyang Co., Hengyang, Hunan, China
A stunning miniature specimen from the world renowned Shangbao fluorite mine in China, this piece has the perfect balance and contrast. The elegant phantoms of multiple colors in fluorite from Shangbao is one of the most classic and desired of modern Chinese minerals. This pocket was found sometime after the industrial "closure" of the mine as an economic entity, when the miners were working reachable areas and pillar-robbing circa 2010-2013.
This specimen is pristine and complete all around with finely isolated fluorite crystals measure to 1.8 cm and show amazingly intricate effects of oriented growth patterning in both colour (purple and blue zones) and in deodecahedral faces. The clear quartz crystals are coated by a glittering layer of micro-quartz crystals similating the "dual core" crystal habit of Mongolian quartz. A complicated and beautiful arrangement. It is simple in geometry but mesmerizing in complexity!
Fluorite's Maintenance Advice:
Fluorite is extremely susceptible to sunlight, some colours fade slower than others, but they all fade under sunlight. The effect also happens under normal halogen light. Therefore keep Fluorite in a darker part of the home, away from direct sunlight unless it needs to be cleansed and charged. To cleanse and charge Fluorite, just pop it on a windowsill out of direct sunlight or even on a cloudy day for 10 minutes. If it doesn't feel like that is enough, you can use reiki or sound too.
