Mongolian Ilvaite with Green Hedenbergite Quartz and Calcite Crystals
Dimension: 4cm x 4cm x 2.6cm
Locality: Huanggang Mine, Hexigten Banner (Keshiketeng Co.), Ulanhad League (Chifeng Prefecture), Inner Mongolia, China
A jet black, lustrous black Ilvaite intergrowth with an olive-green Hedenbergite Quartz point. The Ilvaite crystal showing a well developed vertical prism and rhombic prismatic terminal faces. A scattering of tiny little glittering Calcite crystals are seen on the back of the Ilvaite, the aesthetics are impressive! Another of the mineral wonders from the incredible deposits at Huanggang.
