Nirvana Quartz is a variety of quartz that was discovered in 2006 when the Himalayan glaciers began to recede due to global warming.  It can only be found in extremely high altitude areas which had formerly been covered in ice 365 days a year.  Nirvana Quartz is also called "Ice Quartz" due to its unique and irregular shapes in chunks composed of aggregates of smaller crystals.  It rarely appears in wands like this specimen, convuluted smaller crystal formations which had grown into this single large piece over millennia of geological time.  The superb clarity of this Nirvana Wand allow lights pass through, reflecting its shapes and inclusions on the shadow, so beautiful!
