Fluorite on Matrix from Yiwu Co., China

The centered purple Fluorite has a diameter of 3.3cm, outstanding!  This is one of the rarest specimens among my father’s finest collections of Chinese Fluorites, it had disappeared for over a decade and nothing similar has ever been found since the first discovery made in around 2008.  My father told me only a few were excavated and this is the only one piece that I’ve seen so far.  The Yiwu county is known for its colorful Fluorite crystals and most of them exhibit second generation growth, and are always bi-colored. 
 
The photos speak for themselves although it is even better in person.  Perfect spheres of intensely colorful Fluorite as vivid as you could dream of, perched onto a plate of Quartz.  It is very 3-dimentional, so unique that makes it stand out from all the others we often see.  The colorations and crystal forms of the Fluorite are so sharp and distinct – spherical ball of Fluorite in a vivid grape-purple color and dodecahedral Fluorite in a gorgeous blue color.  This is for sure a winning museum quality specimen that is so rare and one-of-a-kind!  In perfect condition, it is simply astonishing that it has survived. Fluorite's Maintenance Advice:
 
Fluorite is extremely susceptible to sunlight, some colours fade slower than others, but they all fade under sunlight. The effect also happens under normal halogen light. Therefore keep Fluorite in a darker part of the home away from direct sunlight.
