Collector’s Piece: Fluorite on Quartz from Youxi Co., China

Weight: 154g
Locality: Youxi County, Sanming, Fujian, China
A complete floater specimen of this level of beauty is a true Chinese treasure! From a limited 2015 find at the Youxi Co., Fujian, China, the echeloned Fluorite crystals are completely transparent, very gemmy and have a uniform medium grass-green color. Some Fluorite crystals from this small find have fully grown to display pyramid shape and are commonly called the “Aztec pyramid”. Perched aesthetically on a drusy, slightly sparkly matrix of Quartz, the lustrous crystals exhibit fine stepped growth and are very 3-dimensional. As a bonus, the Fluorite displays a bright purple-blue fluorescence under longwave UV lighting 365nm. These Fluorites were reportedly discovered in 2013 during the construction of a 13 kilometer tunnel near Youxi for the Xiangtang–Putian high-speed railway, and top quality pieces are expensive and rare, even in China. Comes with a high quality copper-wired display stand.

Fluorite's Maintenance Advice:
Fluorite is extremely susceptible to sunlight, some colors fade slower than others, but they all fade under sunlight. The effect also happens under normal halogen light. Therefore keep Fluorite in a darker part of the home, away from direct sunlight unless it needs to be cleansed and charged. To cleanse and charge Fluorite, just pop it on a windowsill out of direct sunlight or even on a cloudy day for 10 minutes. If it doesn't feel like that is enough, you can use reiki or sound too.
