Phantom Fluorite with Arsenopyrite, Epidote and Muscovite from Yaogangxian Mine

Phantom Fluorite with Arsenopyrite, Epidote and Muscovite from Yaogangxian Mine

Dimension: 4.5cm x 3.1cm x 2.3cm

Weight: 46g

Locality: Yaogangxian Mine, Yizhang County, Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, China

A truly beautiful and mesmerizing specimen featuring groups of intergrown aqua blue cubic crystals of Fluorite with supreme clarity and gemminess, outstanding!  The Fluorite crystal cubes are well shaped with complex and sculptural terminations.  The lustre is exceedingly high and it looks like a jello cube because of its glass-clear transparency.  The most stunning character of this piece lies within its magnificent phantoms - two intergrown cubic Fluorite with clear purple and blue-green color zonings are frozen inside, it looks very 3-dimentional from all angles!

Tiny dots of green Epidote and white Dolomite are trapped inside the Fluorite aggregates adding real pizzazz to the piece.  Flakes of metallic-silver Muscovite and prismatic, twinned triangular shaped Arsenopyrite can also be seen on the underside of the specimen, simply stunning!

This belongs to my father's personal Chinese minerals collection which was purchased in around 2004-05. This level of Fluorite is hardly seen and almost impossible to obtain even at the source now as mining activities are restricted in the Yaogangxian area. Fine specimens from this locale are now very sort after by collectors in the world.

Fluorite's Maintenance Advice:

Fluorite is extremely susceptible to sunlight, some colours fade slower than others, but they all fade under sunlight. The effect also happens under normal halogen light. Therefore keep Fluorite in a darker part of the home, away from direct sunlight unless it needs to be cleansed and charged. To cleanse and charge Fluorite, just pop it on a windowsill out of direct sunlight or even on a cloudy day for 10 minutes. If it doesn't feel like that is enough, you can use reiki or sound too.
