Cubic Galena on Quartz Crystals with Dolomite

This is a pristine specimen that displays an association of cubic Galena, Quartz and Dolomite crystals that all formed from a bed matrix. The Galena displays very attractive stepped growth, forming gorgeous terraced structures on all faces. The Galena cubes are matt lustrous, well formed and have a sharp geometry. On the Galena are seen gorgeous yellow Dolomite incrustations with sparkly Quartz crystals. Displays beautifully all over 360 degree.
Galena is a heavy mineral, it has been mined for lead and silver since the time of the Romans. It is the natural mineral form of lead sulfide and is the most important ore of lead and an important source of silver. Its name is derived from the Latin galena, the Roman term for both lead ore and the impurities that float on the surface of smelted lead. Galena is found worldwide with major occurrences in Peru, Mexico, Bolivia, Russia, China, and the United States.
