Locality: Tonglushan Mine, Daye Co., Huangshi Prefecture, Hubei Province, China

A very rare and spectacular specimen featuring sharp, lustrous, bi-colored (white and brown-red) Calcite crystals stacked on each other to form the tower shape.  From the world-renowned Daye Copper Mine, this belongs to my father's private collection bought in around 1975.  It exhibits fantastic coloration due to red Hematite inclusions.  Calcite from the Daye Mine usually exhibits scalenohedron crystal habit but a few Calcite specimens like this piece were discovered when the mine was first found.  Very attractive and a well balanced display quality specimen, simply stunning!
