Collector's Piece: Fluorite and Muscovite on Quartz from Yaogangxian Mine

Collector's Piece: Fluorite and Muscovite on Quartz from Yaogangxian Mine

Dimension: 8.2cm x 3.6cm x 3.6cm

Weight: 115g

Locality: Yaogangxian Mine, Yizhang County, Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, China

A phenonmenal piece from the famed Yaogangxian Mine!  Aggregates of intergrown Phantom Fluorite crystals aesthetically scattered on a carpet of Muscovite in an alluring champagne-gold color, like a garden of minerals!  Associated with well-crystalized metallic-silver Arsenopyrite, they are attaching to a group of gemmy Quartz crystals.  This is a piece that go beyond and above the usual Yaogangxian standard.  A top quality good size specimen mesmerizing in person and in the details!

This belongs to my father's personal Chinese minerals collection which was purchased in around 2004-05.  This level of Fluorite is hardly seen and almost impossible to obtain even at the source now as mining activities are restricted in the Yaogangxian area.  Fine specimens from this locale are now very sort after by collectors in the world.

Fluorite's Maintenance Advice:

Fluorite is extremely susceptible to sunlight, some colours fade slower than others, but they all fade under sunlight. The effect also happens under normal halogen light. Therefore keep Fluorite in a darker part of the home, away from direct sunlight unless it needs to be cleansed and charged. To cleanse and charge Fluorite, just pop it on a windowsill out of direct sunlight or even on a cloudy day for 10 minutes. If it doesn't feel like that is enough, you can use reiki or sound too.
