Collector’s Piece: Chabazite and Epidote on Alpine Smoky Quartz from Wulian Co.,

A gorgeous new find of stark jet black Smoky Quartz with highly crystalized Chabazite crystals is from a July 2021 discovery at one of the most beautiful and remote locations in China – the Wulian Mountains.  Only a few specimens were found with these beautiful Chabazite crystals intergrown and this is the best of all!  Like the true Alpine Smoky Quartz, the luster of the Smoky Quartz is exceedingly vitreous and the clarity of this piece is particularly translucent.  The prism faces of the Smoky Quartz exhibit geometric, horizontal striations that is truly beautiful.  It has just enough accent of a contrasting grass-green Epidote micro crystals to be dramatic, and presents very elegantly.  As a bonus, it is a complete floater and the condition is perfect.  It is so extraordinary and unusual for the association and its visual composition – to have orange-colored Chabazite associated with Alpine Smoky Quart at this locality.  Chabazite of this well-formed quality are very rare in the Chinese mineral world and they are considered one of the top collectibles from the area.
