Cinnabar on Dolomite with Metacinnabar from Wanshan Mine, China

Thick tabular form of blood-red Cinnabar crystals, of a very considerable size and proportion, aesthetically perched on a matrix with highly crystallized rhombohedral Dolomite aggregates and small Metacinnabar crystals.  Some of the Dolomite crystals are highly lustrous which display transparent to translucent clarity.  Metallic gray, micro crystals of Metacinnabar aesthetically “crawled” on and encasing the Dolomite crystals, adding extra color and radiance to the piece, fantastic!  The Cinnabar crystal on the display side measures 1.5cm across, it is exceedingly reflective.  As a bonus, unknown minerals embedded in the matrix exhibit a bright green fluorescence under longwave UV lighting 365nm.  This is definitely a beautiful and colorful specimen of superb quality!  The piece will be beautifully set in a high quality acrylic display box especially made for specimens.
