Cassiterite with Beryl var. Goshenite, Muscovite and Quartz from Mt. Xuebaoding,
Dimension: 4.7cm x 3.4cm x 2.5cm
Weight: 67g
Locality: Mt. Xuebaoding, Pingwu Co., Mianyang Prefecture, Sichuan Province, China
Exceedingly lustrous crystals of Cassiterite associated with Muscovite and Beryl var. Goshenite intergrown, from the world-class Scheelite and Cassiterite locality of Mount. Xueboading in China. Little has come from this locale since the May 2008 earthquake which severely affected operations and mining activities are banned completely for a nearby panda preserve. It’s sad to realize these beautiful combo specimens have already become history. Acquired in 2002, this specimen features blades of shinny silvery colored Muscovite perched onto a matrix of jet black, mirror bright crystals of Cassiterite. For added rarity, two completely transparent Beryl var. Goshenite crystals intergrowth is observed. The Quartz points underneath ascend the uniqueness of the specimen, how amazing! The lustrous Cassiterite crystals display highly detailed prism faces and terminations. This would make an excellent display piece. Comes with a high quality metal display stand.
