Collector’s Piece: "Diamond" Calcite on Matrix from Tonglushan Mine, China

Mined in early 2020, this stunning piece comprises of several gemmy, scalenohedral Calcite with distinct symmetrical form and superb luster interlinked to form into a floating aggregate which has a measurement of 4.8cm x 3.9cm.  The Calcite crystals have a light to medium champagne color with some red Hematite tinting and are perfectly terminated.  It is called the Diamond Calcite in the Chinese mineral world because of its supreme clarity and gemminess, like a diamond that shines from many facets.  Milky white Feather Calcite intergrowth can also be observed.  For added aesthetics, the Diamond Calcite fluoresces bright orange-red and the Feather Calcite fluoresces pink under longwave UV lighting 365nm.  The Daye Copper Mine is known for its magnificent, great variety of mineral combo specimens, occasionally it produces some of the finest Calcite specimen in the world, and this large cabinet specimen measuring 12.7cm across is a marvelous example.  Comes with a high quality copper-wired display stand.
