Calcite and Pyrite on Marble from Daye Copper Mine

Dimension: 6.9cm x 4.6cm x 2.4cm

Weight: 63g

Locality: Tonglushan Mine, Daye Co., Huangshi Prefecture, Hubei Province, China

A gorgeous display piece from the famous Daye Copper Mine which features dozens of small brassy-gold, isolated pyritohedral dodecahedron Pyrite crystals aesthetically scattered on a metamorphic marble matrix.  The most impressive and unique aspect of the piece is that the gem quality Calcites disks in hexagonal rhombohedron crystal habit have an exceedingly lustrous surface and pristine transparency.  The photos do not match how beautiful it is in person!
