Azurite and Malachite from Sepon Mine, Laos

Locality: Khanong open pit, Sepon Mine, Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, Laos

 

Druse of electric blue, extremely crystallized crystals of Azurite and fibrous Malachite specimen from Laos, some of the Azurite are doubly terminated.  The Azurite are translucent, extraordinarily bright and partially coated some of the bright green, fibrous Malachite (i.e. pseudomorphs after Malachite).  The contrast between the electric blue of the Azurite and the intense green of the Malachite is superb.  This is one of the few pieces found with this crystallographic habitus at the locality.  Mesmerizing and very attractive in person, check out the video:
